KMCH’s World Mental Health Day Endeavor

KMCH College of Occupational Therapy marked World Mental Health Day on October 14, 2023, with a series of impactful events. The program commenced with a warm welcome speech delivered by Dr. Shashidhar Rao, Principal of the College.

Dr. Suganya Priyadharshini, Associate Professor at KMCH IHSR, addressed the audience on “Breaking the Myths About Mental Health,” while Dr. Sathyaseelan, Assistant Professor at KMCH IHSR, shared insights on “Neuroplasticity and the Role of Occupational Therapy in Mental Health.”

To engage the students, two competitive events were organized: a Skit competition and an E-poster competition, both centered around the theme “Mental Health Is a Universal Right.”

In a bid to extend their support to the community, the Department of Occupational Therapy at KMCH conducted a stress management program tailored for the parents of children with special needs. Dr. Srinidhi Nithyanand, Consultant Psychiatrist, and Prof. Sugi gave a speech about stress management.

The day culminated with a prize distribution ceremony to honour the outstanding participants and contributors. Sujata Missal, Director and Head of Occupational Therapy at KMCH, delivered the vote of thanks.
