Dr. N.G.P. Arts and Science College organized Global Handwashing Day Celebration through the DBT Star Departments including the Department of Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Food Science and Nutrition and the newly included DBT Star departments including Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry on 14.10.2023 at Seminar Hall – II. Under DBT STAR College Scheme about 8 Government schools were selected and the students of the respective schools were provided with awareness on the theme of “Awareness on Hand washing” by organizing competitions like essay writing, painting/drawing, memory games, and oratorical on the entire week.
The winners of these competitions along with their parents and teachers were invited to the college to observe the Global Hand Wash celebration campaign. Kalimuthu, Dean R&D delivered the welcome address. The Presidential address was given by Dr. Thavamani D. Palaniswami, Secretary, followed by the felicitation by Ramamurthi, Principal of the college. Ananthapadmanabhan, Director and CEO of Tenxhealth Technologies, Coimbatore. The invited speaker Dr. Srinivasan, Department of Psychological Medicine, KMCH gave insights on the topic of “Adolescent Problems and its Solutions”. The guests distributed the medals and certificates to the winners of the events. Sudha, Coordinator of DBT Star College Scheme, delivered the vote of thanks.
