The International Conference on “Expedition of Bioprospecting and its Emerging Trends” (ICEBET-2023) organized by the Department of Biotechnology, NGP College of Arts and Science held on September 30, 2023. Dr. Thavamani D. Palaniswami, Secretary, delivered the Presidential Address followed by felicitation from Muthuswamy, Director.
The release of the souvenir, a lasting memory symbolizing knowledge gained, was joyfully conducted by the dignitaries. The conference featured three eminent scientists presenting on diverse topics. Dr. Prabakaran Ravichandran, Research Scientist, ITC Life Sciences Technology Centre, Bangalore, discussed “Bioprospecting Startup Exploring Nature’s Treasures for Sustainable Innovation,” Dr Martin Prince Alphonse, Department of Dermatology, Johns Hopkins University, USA, focused on “Bioprospecting for infectious skin diseases, a tale from the world of Caspase inhibitors,” and Sowmya, Cell line development Scientist, USA, enlightened the audience on “Jumping genes (Transposons) in genetic engineering and CRISPR.”
With over 150 external participants from 20 colleges, the conference also witnessed 15 poster presentations. A total of 180 abstracts were submitted by both external and internal participants, creating an informative and interactive session.
