CII conducts conference on ‘Effective Metal Cutting’

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organised the 5th edition of the Conference on Effective Metal Cutting at Coimbatore on 8 December 2022. Focusing on the challenges and opportunities in modern-day CNC, the conference deliberated on how the MSMEs from the region could benefit from embracing modern technologies.

Delivering the Inaugural address, K Sreeramachandra Murty, President of Lakshmi Machine works Ltd, Machine Tools Division, emphasised the importance of Indian machine tool manufacturers in the world market. He also mentioned the need for adding value to the manufacturing process by selecting and utilisation of correct tools and components.

Indradev Babu, Managing Director, Ucam Pvt Ltd, in his Keynote address, highlighted the key challenges faced by MSME in terms of material wastage and losses. He emphasized the usage of implementing metrics for bringing higher efficiency that can be directly linked to the organisational goals. He also brought to attention the importance of tool life management for higher reliability.

Earlier welcoming the gathering, Dr K Senthil Ganesh, Vice Chairman of CII Coimbatore zone, stated the role of the engineering ecosystem in Coimbatore and its importance for the development of the industry. Mr M Ramesh, Past Chairman, CII Coimbatore and Managing Director, Alphacraft Pvt Ltd, in his Theme address, stated the importance of machine tools in precision engineering and CNC machining processes. S Shrikumaravelu, Managing Partner, Tekmak Industrials, delivered the concluding remarks for the session.

The conference organised with the theme “Challenges and Opportunities in Modern Day CNC” had key resource speakers from across the country addressing varied topics.
