Coimbatore experiencing a hot summer after 40 years

Coimbatore has witnessed a temperature rise recently and people are afraid to come out. Many people search for theme parks and ventilating places like falls, rivers, and swimming pools to overcome extreme temperatures. According to the weather station, at Peelamedu, the minimum temperature on Monday was 26.1°C, which is an increase of 2°C from the normal temperature.

“Coimbatore People were asked to stay in during the peak time between 11.00 to 3.00 to tolerate heatwave conditions and stay hydrated by having plenty of water and immediately visit a doctor if feeling not well,” said the District Collector.

Daily vendors were the most affected due to the scorching summer, a 40-year-old flower vendor in Gandipuram said, “Heat waves continue to affect my business, dehydration has become my major concern. I often feel dizzy due to extreme heat and I have never experienced this kind of heatwave in the city before”.

As IMD reported, the city reached a maximum temperature of 39°C and was advised to stay hydrated in the upcoming days.
