Textile Association felicitate Smriti Irani’s contribution to textile industry

Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani on Sunday addressed the Textile Association’s Felicitation Ceremony.

More than 15 prominent textile industry and trade associations including SIMA and CITI honoured Minister Irani for her contributions to the textile industry when she was the Minister of Textiles between July 2016 and July 2021.

T.Rajkumar, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) lauded Minister Smriti Irani for her essential role in bringing down Hank Yarn Obligation from 40% to 30%, announcing the comprehensive scheme got the capacity building in the textile sector with a budget outlay of Rs.1300 crore, increasing the MSP of cotton, reducing GST for Man-Made Fibers from 18% to 12%, etc. All participating textile associations honoured the Minister after him.

“I know times are predicted to be challenging because of the International situation but if there is one person in the government that knows the tenacity, that knows the genius and the talent of Indian textile industry that is me,” said Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani.
