Warwick University Appoints EKKI Co-CEO Kanishka Arumugam as Honorary Fellow

Kanishka Arumugam, Co-CEO of EKKI Water Technologies, has been appointed as an Honorary Fellow at the University of Warwick’s Institute for Global Sustainable Development (IGSD). Arumugam is a dynamic next-generation leader who combines academic excellence with a commitment to sustainable business practices.

His academic journey includes pursuing an MBA at Oxford University and a Master’s program in WMG at Warwick, where he gained insights into leadership and global competitiveness. He is also known for his strategic vision, notably spearheading a groundbreaking wastewater Joint Venture with HOMA, a renowned global wastewater technology company.

Under Arumugam’s leadership, EKKI has transformed into a globally competitive mid-sized family business. His accomplishments include serving as the youngest National Next-Gen President at the CII Family Business Network and actively contributing to his family’s educational institutions. EKKI’s achievements have been recognized at INSEAD Business School and featured in the book ‘Enabling Next Gen Legacies.’

EKKI Water Technologies, based in Coimbatore, India, specializes in sustainable water pumping and transportation for agriculture, building services, and utilities, with a global presence in over 20 countries.

In his role as an Honorary Fellow, Arumugam bridges academia and business. He shared insights on using businesses as a force for good and promotes sustainability in the water industry. His affiliation with the University underscores IGSD’s mission to promote sustainability principles.

Professor Elena Korosteleva, Director of IGSD, expressed excitement about Arumugam’s fresh perspective on sustainable development. Kanishka Arumugam, in turn, expressed his deep honour and the influence of his alma mater on his leadership journey.

Other distinguished Honorary Fellows of the IGSD include esteemed members of the House of Lords, such as Baroness Sheehan and Lord Teverson. Warwick University has a history of recognizing accomplished individuals with connections to India, including prominent figures like Ratan Tata, the former Chairman of the TATA Group, Venu Srinivasan of TVS Motors, and Sir Ralf Speth, the former CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, all of whom have received Honorary Doctorates and Honorary Fellow titles from the University.
