CIT’s event on Exploring Aerospace Careers

Coimbatore Institute of Technology orchestrated an enlightening event on August 26th, 2023, focusing on “Career Opportunities in Aerospace Science” for college and school students. P Sasikumar, a Scientist from Vikram Sarabhai Space Center – Trivandrum, engaged with the attendees, delivering insightful talks and interactions.

Organized by Indian Society for Engineering Sciences and Technology, Centre for Science Technology Innovation Program, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, in partnership with Kanithavaani Mathematical Society, Ariviyal Palagai, and Vigyan Prasar, the event delved into aerospace prospects. P Sasikumar conversed with college students in the morning session, elaborating on the numerous career avenues available within the aerospace sector. Rajeswari, Principal of CIT presided over the session. Sasikumar’s books, “Skyriders” and “Rocket Science,” were exhibited for purchase, and their insights were shared by Balachandran from Library Readers Club and Prasanna Shankaran, an Associate Professor from PSG College of Technology. Sam Solomon, an Assistant Professor from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, extended the welcome, while Prabakaran, an Assistant Professor from the Department of Mathematics, felicitated the chief guest. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Nandhakumar, an Assistant Professor from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

The afternoon session was tailored for school students, wherein Sasikumar interacted with the young learners, addressing their queries. His Tamil books, including “Train,” “Bicycle,” “Rocket,” “Aeroplane,” and “Ship,” were on display and available for purchase. These books, thoughtfully penned for children in accessible language, aimed to spark their interest. Rajendran, District Library Officer, shared his thoughts on these works. Elango, Joint Secretary of Kanithavaani, initiated the event’s proceedings, followed by a Vote of Thanks by Chandrasekar, Regional Secretary of Illam Thedi Kalvi.
