Akash Astro Club Launched in Govt. School

Akash Astro Club was inaugurated at Government Higher Secondary School, Othakkalmandapam, Coimbatore. The school’s Headmaster, G. Ramesh, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of astronomy education. Special invitees Muralitharan, Director of Public Relations at Nehru Group of Institutions, and Nagaraj, Partner at Modern Scientific Company, inaugurated the club and delivered their felicitation addresses.

Students actively participated by presenting poetry and speeches that shed light on the devastating impact of nuclear weapons on lives, health, and the environment, in remembrance of Hiroshima Nagasaki Day. An engaging poster-making competition was organized, and prizes were awarded to the talented participants.

The event also featured an exhibition and video presentation on astronomy, as well as a dedicated segment about Hiroshima Nagasaki Day. This event was a part of the larger Astronomy Festival taking place across a thousand locations in Tamil Nadu, organized by Vigyan Prasar, Ariviyal Palagai, Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre, Tamil Nadu Astronomy and Science Society, Kovai Astro Club, and Palli Kalvi Pathukappu Iyakkam.
