Coimbatore NSS Volunteers return from National Adventure Camp

As many as 70 NSS Volunteers from various parts of India attended a 10 day-National Adventure Camp at Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh in the High Altitude Trekking and Skiing Centre of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering from November 6th to 15th, 2022, organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and NSS Regional Directorate, Chennai.

The Tamil Nadu NSS Volunteer team was led by the contingent leader Dr.S.Prahadeeshwaran, NSS Program Officer, Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. In this camp 10 NSS Volunteers of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore also participated.

The volunteers learned and experienced Tent Pitching, Rock Climbing, Valley Crossing, Mountain Rescue activities, etc. The participants had their confidence boosted and had the opportunity to increase their leadership capabilities.

These NSS volunteers of Bharathiar University, Coimbatore under the leadership of Dr.S.Prahadeeswaran successfully completed the program, and met Union Minister Dr.L. Murugan, Minister of State Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on 16th November, 2022 at New Delhi during their return, and shared their Adventure training thrilling experiences and NSS experience. Minister appreciated the NSS volunteers’ social services and motivated them to work for Nation building activities in the future.

He interacted with the volunteers and asked about their activities in the camp and congratulated the entire team for participating in the trekking event.
