Bank of Baroda sanctions Agri loans to over 20,000 farmers

To leverage the Government’s policy of achieving self-reliance in agriculture, Bank of Baroda (Bank), one of India’s leading public sector banks, organised the 5th Edition of the ‘Baroda Kisan Pakhwada’, a nationwide annual farmer outreach programme in November.

During the 2-week Agri festival, the Bank’s 161 semi-urban and rural branches in Tamil Nadu actively participated in this programme and reached out to more than 20,000 farmers across Tamil Nadu with a bouquet of various agri-related loan products. The Bank organised farmers’ meets, choupals, soil testing camps, animal health check-ups and financial literacy programmes.

During this 15-day-long farmers’ festival, the Bank sanctioned over Rs. 134 crores to over 20,000 farmers. ‘Baroda Kisan Pakhwada’ has been designed to help the Bank boost engagement with the farming community and create awareness about various Agri products, schemes & delivery channels offered by the Bank of Baroda and initiatives taken by the Government for the benefit of farmers.

Speaking on the concluding day of the festival, Shri A Saravanakumar, General Manager & Zonal Head (Chennai Zone), Bank of Baroda said, “Agriculture is an important sector in Tamil Nadu, generating employment and providing livelihoods to a large number of people. We at Bank of Baroda are pleased to be reaching out to the farming community on a larger scale and providing them with details and financial assistance and making them familiar with various types of Agri loans, banking services available and the various Agri initiatives launched by the Government”.
