Vi Offers IoT lab-as-a-service

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is making significant strides in the Industry 4.0 revolution with a focus on IoT adoption. A NASSCOM report projects India’s IoT market to reach US$15 billion by 2025. Despite the growth, the industry faces challenges like device compatibility and fragmented ecosystems. Addressing this, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has mandated OneM2M as the National IoT Standard for device interoperability.

Vodafone Idea (Vi), in collaboration with C-DOT, has established a groundbreaking IoT Lab to promote standardization and interoperability. Since its formation in Dec’22, the lab has tested over 50 devices across various industries. It not only validates network performance but also certifies solution interoperability based on oneM2M standards, endorsed by BIS.

Vi Business offers a Lab-as-a-Service initiative capable of testing 175+ scenarios, including network and functional testing, field testing, application testing, and more. The lab supports 30+ diverse use cases like AMI, Connected Car, POS, and VTS, testing components ranging from devices to firmware. Acting as an IoT ecosystem orchestrator, the lab aims to ensure a seamless IoT experience by collaborating with stakeholders.

Arvind Nevatia, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Vi, expressed Vi’s commitment to IoT adoption and announced plans to establish a ‘centre of innovation’ to foster synergies between startups and the M2M/IoT industry. This collaboration reflects Vi’s dedication to enhancing the domestic IoT ecosystem and contributing to India’s economic growth.
