Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology, inaugurated its Cyber Cell and organized a seminar titled “CYBER CRIME AWARENESS FOR BUDDING ENGINEERS” aimed at first-year students on 15th September. Gomathy, the Convenor of Women Development Cell and Professor & Head of the Department of CSBS, welcomed attendees.
S.U. Prabha, the Principal, emphasized the importance of cyber awareness among today’s youth in his presidential address. The seminar featured resource persons, including Ganeshkumar, Inspector of Police from Peelamedu Law and Order Police Station in Coimbatore, who discussed common city crimes.
Karuppusamy, Sub Inspector of Police specializing in Cyber Crime, addressed the gathering on day-to-day cybercrimes via social media and provided information on complaint helpline numbers and websites related to cybercrimes.
Amirthavalli, Special Sub Inspector of Police, offered her contact for registering complaints. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Rajalakshmi, a Professor from the Department of AI & DS. Over 700 first-year students from various departments participated in this informative session.
