Lakshmi Machine Works Limited (LMW) organized the DJ Memorial Photography Contest (DJMPC) to honor the memory of its former Chairman and Managing Director, D Jayavarthanavelu (DJ), who was passionate about photography. Now in its twelfth edition, the contest has become a significant event in the photography calendar.
The DJMPC received an overwhelming response, with 5116 images submitted by 936 participants from 26 countries, competing in the Creative Nature and NatureScapes categories. The total prize money for the contest was ₹10 lakhs.
A distinguished jury panel, including Anish Andheria, Lalith Ekanayake, and Sachin Rai, assessed the entries, with Maruthachalam as the contest mentor and Vikram Sathyanathan as the administrator.
The awards ceremony for DJMPC 2023 took place at the Kasthuri Sreenivasan Cultural Centre in Coimbatore. Ashok Nair from Karnataka and Dharashan Benjamine Julian from Sri Lanka were the winners in the ‘Creative Nature’ category, while Dhanuparan from Tamil Nadu and Rajarshi Banerji from West Bengal emerged victorious in the ‘Nature Scape’ category.
The selected contest photographs are on display for public viewing at the expo until Saturday, 5th August 2023.
