TNAU signed MoU with Periyar University

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, and Periyar University, Salem, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate research and training for postgraduate students. TNAU, the recipient of the prestigious Sardar Patel Outstanding ICAR Institution Award and ranked 5th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2023 in the Agriculture and Allied Sector Category, aims to collaborate with Periyar University to promote students’ training and quality research.

The signing ceremony, attended by delegates from both institutions, saw TamizhVendan, Registrar of TNAU, Coimbatore, and Thangavel, Registrar of Periyar University, Salem, exchange the signed agreement. Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor of TNAU, Coimbatore, and Jagannathan, Vice-Chancellor of Periyar University, Salem, emphasized the significance of this academic collaboration and expressed their optimism for future endeavors.

The collaboration between the two universities will focus on joint course material development, enhancing the existing climate Weather Research & Forecasting model, improving seasonal forecast accuracy for precise farmer advisories, and exploring e-Nose technology for quantifying volatile chemicals. Additionally, TNAU’s expertise in bioinformatics will support Periyar University in advancing biotechnological research for key molecule identification, drug design, and modeling.
