UYIR to officially launch ‘Kutty Cop’ programme

UYIR was established as a Charitable Trust as ‘People’s Movement for Road Safety’ by the citizens of Coimbatore. It has 12 Trustees and 10 Apex committee members with Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu as Chairman and Dr S Rajasekaran of Ganga Hospital as the Managing Trustee. The District Collector, Commissioner of Police and the Corporation Commissioner are the Ex-Officio trustees of the organisation.

The UYIR launched the ‘Kutty Cop’ programme to introduce Road Safety Awareness Education to school children. Initially implemented as a pilot project in around 40 schools, and based on the positive results now the curriculum is all set to be implemented in schools across Coimbatore District from 2022-23 academic year onwards with the support of Tamil Nadu government.

This ‘Kutty Cop’ Road Safety Awareness Education project will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.K.Stalin from Chennai on Wednesday (12.10.2022) through video conferencing.

Around 4,000 students from various schools of Coimbatore are going to participate in this live event at Coimbatore Codissia ‘E’ Hall. Minister for Electricity, Prohibition & Excise V.Senthilbalaji will participate in this event.
