Dr.N.G.P. ASC conducts a national seminar

Indian council of social science research sponsored a one-day national seminar organized by the Department of Information Technology, Dr.N.G.P. Arts and Science College Coimbatore on Wednesday.  The key focus of the seminar was on innovations in ICT towards women’s education and empowerment-Impacts and practices.

In addition to 352 students of Dr.N.G.P. ASC, around 150 participants from other colleges in and around Tamil Nadu and other states participated in the national seminar.

J.Savitha, professor, department of Information Technology has received a grant of RS: 1, 25,000 from ICSSR. The national seminar was presided over by Dr.Thavamani D.Palaniswami, Secretary, Dr.N.G.P.Educational Institutions and V.Rajendran, Principal, Dr N.G.P.Arts and Science College.

The felicitation address was given by Dr.O.T.Buvaneswaran, CEO, KMCRET. Gowri Ashokan, Former Chairperson, Tamil Nadu state commission for women, Chennai delivered a special address on the topic women’s education and empowerment schemes 2021 by the government of Tamil Nadu in the One Day national seminar.

B.Amudha, Professor and Head, Department of Computing Technologies, SRM institute of science and technology, Chennai and Rupa Gunaseelan, President-BUWC, Professor and Head, BSMED, Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore served as the resource staff.

Various applications of ICT in fields like security, awareness, knowledge, employment, confidence, popularity etc were discussed in addition to highlighting the important tool for the achievement of global sustainable development goals (SDGs). The insights on the development of ICT allow women to update themselves about everyday national and global news was shared.
