Subramanian Elected as the President of Tiruppur Exporters’ Association

The Tiruppur Exporters’ Association held its 33rd annual general body meeting on September 16, 2023, at the IKFA Complex in Tirupur. For the first time, TEA presented Excellence Awards to exporting units in various categories, including Year-on-Year Exports Sales Growth, segmented by Exports Turnover: Rs. 1-10 Crore, 11-30 Crore, 31-100 Crore, 101-250 Crore, and 251-500 Crore. Additionally, awards were given in the categories of First Generation Young Entrepreneur, Environment Social Governance (ESG), and Women Entrepreneurs. In total, 17 companies were awarded Gold Medals, 5 received Silver Medals, and 5 received Bronze Medals.

Subramanian, the President, expressed gratitude to various individuals and government officials in his speech at the 33rd AGM of their Association. He thanked everyone for participating in the AGM and mentioned the support from Chairman Padmashri Sakthivel, who encouraged him to form a team and run for the Association’s election. He also expressed thanks for being elected as President and mentioned the team’s vision for export growth.

He highlighted the successful renovation of their association’s building and thanked members for their financial contributions. The President acknowledged government officials and ministers for their support in inaugurating the renovated building.

He discussed the challenges faced in the knitwear export sector over the years but expressed optimism due to upcoming Free Trade Agreements (FTAs). Subramanian also emphasized the need for product diversification, focusing on manufacturing MMF (Man-Made Fiber) products to meet global demands.

He emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability (ESG) and a circular economy in the textile industry, applauding Tirupur’s efforts in implementing Zero Liquid Discharge and renewable energy sources.

The President touched on various trade agreements, including India-UK, India-Canada, India-EU, and India-EFTA FTAs, highlighting their progress. He also discussed the issue of increasing imports of knitted fabrics and knitwear garments from Bangladesh and requested government intervention.

Subramanian expressed his gratitude to government officials, ministers, and various authorities for their support and commitment to the textile industry’s growth. He thanked members, administrative staff, and media for their contributions to the Association.
