The Department of Information Technology at Sri Krishna Adithya College of Arts and Science recently conducted a two-day hands-on workshop focused on Data Analytics using the Power BI Tool. The workshop aimed to provide technical knowledge-sharing sessions to benefit students.
Palaniammal, Principal, presided over the workshop and encouraged students to make the most of such valuable sessions. She emphasized that continuous practice is essential for mastering data analytics.
Sreejith Vignesh, Head of the Department of Information Technology, highlighted the significance of Business Intelligence in the corporate world. He introduced the subject matter expert, Venkatesh Prasanna, Founder, and Director of Exotrix Learning Solutions in Bangalore, who acquainted the students with the Power BI tool.
Venkatesh Prasanna explained that Power BI enables users to create interactive dashboards and reports for effective data communication. Through hands-on training, students gained practical experience in data analytics using real-time corporate data from companies like Swiggy and banks.
The workshop covered data cleaning, Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) processes, data integration from various sources, and the development of personalized interactive dashboards and reports. Students also learned to create infographic-style reports.
Approximately 150 students participated in the workshop and expressed its usefulness in enhancing their knowledge and employability prospects. Faculty members, including Prof. Malathi, Santhiya, Vinoth, Vani, Kalaivani, Prakash, Ganeshmoorthy, Prof. Gopi, and Prof. Kayalvizhi, actively coordinated and participated in the event, contributing to its success.
