Hands-On Phlebotomy Training at KMCH College of Nursing

The KMCH College of Nursing, in collaboration with KMCH-IHSR’s Department of Pathology, organized a Phlebotomy skill training program for B.Sc Nursing students from August 30 to September 2, 2023. The initiative aimed to improve students’ blood sample collection skills, a vital aspect of nursing practice.

Madhavi, Principal of KMCH College of Nursing, inaugurated the program and emphasized the importance of safety protocols in phlebotomy procedures.

Karthikeyan, the Head of the Department of Pathology, and Veena, a Pathology professor at KMCH-IHSR, delivered lectures on successful venepuncture and blood sampling techniques. They also demonstrated practical tricks and methods to facilitate easy blood sample collection.

This hands-on training ensured personalized learning experiences, with 25 students in each session. Totally 96 students participated in the program. The program not only enhanced clinical skills but also promoted safe and compassionate patient care, aligning with the compassionate nature of the nursing profession.
