Dr. N.G.P Institute of Technology in collaboration with Kovai Makkal Sevai Maiyam and Dream Zone recently organized a Handloom Fashion Show for its students. The event aimed to support and promote the Handloom Industry while raising awareness about Handloom Fabric among students
Participants from various departments of the institute showcased handloom fabrics with a modern designer twist, adding a sense of pride to the show. Contestants expressed their embrace of handloom fabrics not only due to tradition but also for the comfort and versatility they offered.
S.U. Prabha, Principal of NGPiTECH, highlighted that the event aimed to introduce handloom fabrics to the younger generation and inspire creativity in their use. The show broke the stereotype of handloom fabrics being limited to conventional sarees and dhotis. The esteemed jury panel included Jayalakshmi, Vice-President of Kovai Makkal Sevai Maiyam, Kalapatti Mandal, and Harini Jeyalakshmi of Dream Zone, Coimbatore.
The Grand Finale will feature the top two participants. The event celebrated the craftsmanship of weavers nationwide and promoted sustainable clothing through the use of handloom fabrics. Akshaya, Associate Professor of MBA at NGPiTECH, skillfully coordinated the event.
