KPR College lights the way for Tribes

KPR College of Arts Science, and Research, in collaboration with the Forest Department, Coimbatore Division, has embarked on a heartfelt mission of social upliftment with the launch of ‘Tribe Pre-Adoption: Illuminating a Radiant Tribe’ initiative.

Dr. Sharmila, Dean of the School of Computing Science, delivered an inspiring presidential address, setting the tone for a spirit of collaboration and service. Dr. Pradeepa, Head of IQAC and Convenor of the Center for Extension and Community Outreach (CECO), outlined the college’s visionary initiatives tailored to benefit all three tribes.

This groundbreaking endeavor aims to extend support and empowerment to three tribes – Sembukkarai, Dhoomanur, and Kaatusalai. The students of KPR College donated sports equipment, microscopes, stationery items, and dress materials, valued at approximately 75,000 Rs.

Under the umbrella of ‘KPRCAS Helping Souls’ each student and faculty member of the college has pledged monthly contributions, to assist the tribal community.

The event witnessed the gracious presence of esteemed guests, ThiruMurugan, Range Officer of the Forest Department, Coimbatore Division, dedicated school teachers from P.U.M School, and members of the tribal communities.

The event was further enriched by Sensitization Programs organized by the students, focusing on fostering healthy habits and empowering menstrual hygiene among the tribe’s children.
