ICCI organized a seminar on Avocado  

The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Coimbatore, and IG Deccan – Exotics, Hyderabad in association with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Bengaluru, organized a seminar on Avocado “The Way the Future” on Thursday.

Cibi N B Anand, Chairman, Agri Committee addressed the gathering about the program. Sriramulu President, ICCI welcomed the gathering and thanked the expert speakers from Israel, IG Deccan, and ICAR, for their presence and brief address.

Dr. Karunakaran, Principal Scientist, ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, in his introductory speech, introduced all the speakers and also mentioned the benefits of Avocado and its plantation. Udi Haskelberg, CEO, Haskelberg Nurseries, Israel, spoke on the topic “From Haskelberg to India, the Journey of the Avocado Saplings.” Gidi, Quality Control Manager, Haskelberg Nurseries, Israel, addressed the gathering on “Selection of top-quality saplings.”

Chanan, Agro Consultant, Negev, Israel, addressed the participants on the topic “Avocado Cultivation in hot weather/desert conditions.” Tarun Arora, CEO, IG International, Mumbai, spoke on “Avocado – a Wonder Fruit Crop, a Market with Future.” Dr. Srinivas Rao, MD – IG Deccan-Exotics, Hyderabad, addressed the topic “Next Generation Avocado varieties/rootstocks grown by Indian Farmers.” Magesh Kumar, President, Karnataka Planters Association, and Narendra Mohan, Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture, Government of Bihar, participated in the seminar besides the leading planters farmers and non-farmers throughout India participated in the seminar besides

There was an effective interactive session in which many of the participants raised their doubts and sought clarifications regarding Avocado benefits, cultivation, plantation, etc.
