Coimbatore’s company is at top in Electoral Bond purchase

The Election Commission recently released the Electoral Bond Data after the Supreme Court’s order, which is now out to the public domain, this data reveals who donates how much to which party. And how much does each party get?

In the period from April 2019 to February 2024, more than 22,000 bonds were purchased, some by companies and some by individuals, there were about 1,260 donors, and the parties got Rs. 12,769 crore. The top 20 donors are companies and those 20 companies gave half of the money.

Future Gaming and Hotel Services Pvt Ltd, which is headed by Santiago Martin, a lottery king, based in Coimbatore Tamilnadu is the top company that bought bonds worth over Rs 1,300 crore between 2019 and 2024 and donated almost 40% of its total purchases to the DMK.

The second Company to top the list is Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd, which built the Zojila tunnel in Kashmir and donated Rs.966 crore, and the third company is Qwik Supply Chain which donated Rs.410 crore to the political parties.

As per the data, the BJP received the maximum funds through the bonds at Rs 6,986.5L crore, followed by West Bengal’s ruling party, Trinamool Congress (Rs 1,397 crore), Congress Rs 1,334 crore) and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (Rs 1,322 crore).

Odisha’s ruling party BJD was the fourth-largest recipient at Rs 944.5 crore, followed by the DMK at Rs 656.5 crore and Andhra Pradesh’s ruling party YSR Congress redeemed bonds worth nearly Rs 442.8 crore.
