NGP Arts organized STEM FEST – 2024

Dr. N. G. P. Arts and Science College, with BHUMI, Ignite Schools, Chennai, OTIS, and Coimbatore Corporation jointly organized STEM FEST – 2024 in association with the Department of Biochemistry on Tuesday, at Dr. NGP Conference Center.

The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) program is designed to cultivate enduring habits in students, with a particular emphasis on honing critical thinking and problem-solving competencies among underprivileged school students. The event was inaugurated with renowned guests.

Dr. Muthuswamy, Director of Academics, Dr. N.G.P. Educational Institutions presided over the gathering by delivering a talk on how science and technology development contributes to every aspect of our daily life. The Chief Guest Rajesh Kannan, Former Director, NTT Data Service, Coimbatore delivered a speech on how STEM programs should integrate with the environment by fostering a holistic approach to education that emphasizes sustainability and ecological consciousness.

Dr. Rajan, Secretary, Bishop Appasamy College of Education, Coimbatore points out that knowledge serves as the cornerstone of their educational journey and personal development and it is the key that unlocks their potential by empowering them to make meaningful contributions to society.

Pravin Rajasekar, Founder, Greenwin Tech, Coimbatore stated that in an era defined by advancements in science and technology, the integral role of technology and innovation in enriching learning, fostering collaboration, and nurturing creativity cannot be overstated.

Dr. Ramamurthi, Principal, Dr. N.G.P. Arts and Science College commends the participants on the pivotal role of teachers and educational institutions in moulding students’ knowledge and skills for their advancement and development in the era of Science and Technology.

A total of 212 students (Grade 6 to 9) from 20 different Corporation Higher Secondary Schools in and around Coimbatore have participated in the STEM Fest-2024. Student volunteers of the Department of Biochemistry, Dr. NGPASC in association with Bhumi Faculty educated the students about various concepts in the field of Science and Mathematics.

Overall, the event strengthened teamwork and coordination among students and increased their interest, knowledge, skill, and enthusiasm toward science and technology.
