ICICI Bank has enabled UPI interoperability for its ‘Digital Rupee’ app, allowing customers to make payments at merchant outlets using their app. This feature lets customers scan existing UPI QR codes at merchant locations and make payments with ease. It also benefits merchants who can accept digital rupee payments through their existing UPI QR codes without additional onboarding. This move expands the convenience of digital payments and promotes the usage of digital rupee. ICICI Bank’s participation in the RBI’s digital currency pilot project has allowed them to offer this facility in 80 cities across India. The ‘Digital Rupee by ICICI Bank’ app is available for both Android and iOS devices, providing users with a simple way to load their digital wallet from their ICICI Bank savings account, make transfers, and streamline their payments.
