KMCH Nursing College raised awareness on cardiovascular diseases

The Medical Surgical Nursing department, faculty, and students of KMCH College of Nursing celebrated World Heart Day on September 29th and 30th, 2023, to raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases. Prof. Kuzhanthaivel, HOD of Medical-Surgical Nursing welcomed the gathering. Prof. Madhavi, the Principal, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the significance of World Heart Day.

Dr. Ramkumar, Associate Professor in the Department of General Medicine, provided insights into cardiovascular diseases. His vernacular explanations enhanced public awareness. B.Sc. Nursing second-year students performed various activities, including model expos, poster presentations, role plays, and assessment of basic parameters such as blood pressure, height, weight, and BMI. A total of 180 patients benefited from the basic parameters assessment clinic, with those having blood pressure readings of 150/90 and above being referred to the General OPD for consultation with physicians.

As part of the celebration, on September 29th, Dr. Lijo Varghese, Professor of Cardiology, delivered a guest lecture on the various facets of emergency care and the initial management of Acute Coronary Syndrome.
