KASC’s Health and Hygiene Awareness Programme

KASC-Centre for Tribal Studies and Welfare, and PG and Research Department of Biotechnology, conducted a one-day “Post COVID-19 Health and Hygiene Awareness Programme” in Kunjapannai Tribal Village, Kotagiri, Nilgiris District, on September 24, 2023. Supported by the Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology and NCSTC, Government of India, New Delhi, this initiative aimed to educate tribal communities.

Vishnupriya, Organizing Secretary, welcomed the participants, and C A Vasuki, Secretary & Director of Kongunadu Arts and Science College, delivered the Presidential address. Renowned professionals, Dr. Paramasivan, Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon, KMCH, explained health practices. Dr. Arjun Paramasivan, College Council Member created awareness on the importance of Sanitation, Malnutrition and its role in preventing  Infectious diseases among the tribal people.

At the program’s conclusion, participants received balanced diet charts, nutritional supplements, and sanitary napkins. A total of 120 tribal individuals benefited from this impactful event, enhancing health awareness and hygiene practices in the tribal community.
