Siruthuli and Rotary Metropolis club, Coimbatore together inaugurated a new project “Metropolis Mazhai Vanam” on 1st of July 2022 in RKV nagar, Theethipalayam Panchayat Thondamuthur.
Metropolis Mazhai Vanam is the project for planting 1100 saplings across 21 varieties of native trees using the Miyawaki Method, which ensures growth, 10 times faster and the resulting plantation is 30 times denser than usual.
Rotary Metropolis Coimbatore is funding the project. Convenor – Forest First Forum of Siruthuli, Mr.V.Chandrasekar addressed the gathering on the importance of this project and the need to increase lung space.
Chief Guest of this grand occasion was Dr.V. Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor of TNAU and Mr. Laxman Singh Rathor, former Director General of Indian Meteorological department, New Delhi. The President of Rotary Metropolis Club Mrs.Shanthi Suresh, under the guidance of the Managing Trustee of Siruthuli Mrs. Vanitha Mohan, the Apex members of Siruthuli and all office bearers, along with Panchayat president Mr. Kandhasamy, ward counselor Mr. Jagan and Rotarians participated in the event and planted the saplings making it a grand success.
