Indian Grandmaster P.Iniyan on Sunday qualified for the International Chess Federation (Federation Internationale des Echecs) World Cup, scheduled to be held in July, by winning the AICF World Cup qualifier online chess tournament.
Iniyan pursues his BBA degree at PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. He is in his first-year. “I am delighted to win the event and qualify for the World Cup. I am happy with the way I played in the tournament which featured some very good players,” the 18-year-old Iniyan told PTI.
The FIDE World Cup will be played from July 10 at Sochi in Russia.
