School of Communication, Dr. GR Damodaran College of Science is thrilled to announce the hosting of its much-anticipated annual event, “Focus and Frames 2024,” on February 16, 2024, at Dr. GR Damodaran College of Science, Main Block, at 10:00 AM
The event is a dynamic photography and short film and documentary competition for its talented Undergraduate and Postgraduate students to showcase their creativity and skill in the realms of visual storytelling and photography.
The photography segment of the event, aptly named “Focus,” will be judged over by the esteemed T Vijay, Chief Photographer at Ananda Viketan Publishers Ltd. Participants are encouraged to submit their most compelling works under the themes of Food, Architecture and Street Photography, aiming to capture the essence of these genres through their unique perspectives. Selected photographs will be displayed in the main block of Dr. GR Damodaran College of Science, offering a visual feast to attendees and participants.
Frames 2024: Short Film and Documentary Competition
“Frames,” the short film and documentary component, promises to be an exciting showcase of narrative and documentary storytelling. This year, college is honored to have Gomathi Shankar, a distinguished alumnus of the School of Communication and a current talent under the Erumbugal Network, as the judge for the segment. Screening of the films will be held at the prestigious Shankara Das Swamigal Preview Theatre within the college’s main block, providing a professional platform for students’ cinematic expressions.
Winners will be honored with awards across various categories, celebrating excellence in photography, short filmmaking, and documentary production. This event not only serves as a platform for recognition but also as an invaluable opportunity for budding artists to receive feedback from industry professionals.
