AIRTEL and VODAFONE have a new IDEA

Jio’s arrival into the telecom market disrupted everything. It is giving the veterans a very tough time. Mukesh Ambani’s pet project, through its attractive offers has looted myriad of loyal customers from various networks. With dual sim enabled smartphones, people use Jio for internet and have reserved other service providers for their incoming call function alone. The real winners here are Jio and its subscriber base.

The other service providers have incurred huge loss due to their subsciber’s dormancy.  The Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) generated by the user base of other networks have dropped low. The users have stopped recharging their sim besides their precious Jio.  Competitors of Jio have decided to bring their ARPU to a decent level and so have announced their minimum prepaid recharge plans.

Airtel and Vodafone-Idea are the latest to do so. If a person doesn’t do a minimum recharge of Rs.35, they cannot avail incoming calls. This move will definitely make the dormant users to turn active. At least they will have to shell out Rs.35 per month. Airtel and Vodafone have minimum recharge plans in Rs.35, Rs.65 and Rs.95. The user will get a talktime of Rs. 26 on average when a recharge of Rs.35 is done. Higher plans come with data balance too but the validity for all packs is same. Just 28 days!

Airtel recently announced a new plan in this Minimum Prepaid Recharge plan for Rs. Rs.23. Whether this new strategy could help Airtel and Vodafone boost their revenue or whether it is going to backfire will be answered in time. But there is a gossip going full ablaze that Vodafone-Idea and Airtel could join together to form a Fibre Network. It is still a gossip, we will keep you posted.
