Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Vellore, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, Cuddalore, Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Salem and Dharmapuri are the major groundnut producing districts in Tamil Nadu.
TN-IAMP Price Forecasting Scheme implemented at the Centre for Agricultural and Rural Development Studies (CARDS), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University analyzed the past 21 year historical prices that prevailed in Tindivanam Regulated Market for groundnut recently.
As per the results of the time series analysis and market survey, the farm gate price of good quality groundnut during December 2021-January 2022 would be around Rs.60-65 per kg.
The Price Forecasting also predicted the prices for Gingelly. India is the second largest producer of Gingelly in the world. In Tamil Nadu, Erode, Karur, Salem, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Tiruppur, Pudukottai and Tiruvannamalai are the major districts that produce this oil seed.
The Price Forecasting Scheme analyzed the past 21 year prices for Gingelly that prevailed in Sivagiri Regulated Market of Erode district. As per the results of the time series analysis, the farm gate price of good quality Gingelly would be around Rs.80 to Rs. 85 /- kg during December 2021-January 2022.
TNAU advised both farmers to take up the selling decision accordingly.
