Sri Ramakrishna Hospital’s “Gift Organs, Gift Life Initiative” Inspired 1000+ Students To Register

Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, in partnership with the Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu (TRANSTAN), has launched an extensive campaign to raise awareness about organ donation. The collaborative effort aims to educate the public about the critical impact of organ donation in saving lives and improving the quality of life for those in need.

Titled “Gift Organs, Gift Life,” the campaign featured an event at the SNR Auditorium on August 12, 2023. Dr. Anand Bharathan, Senior Consultant Surgeon, welcomed the attendees, while D. Lakshminarayanaswamy, Managing Trustee of SNR Charitable Trust, delivered the Presidential Address. Dr. N. Gopalakrishnan, Member Secretary of Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu and Director of Institute of Nephrology at Madras Medical College, graced the occasion. Dr. G. Madhu Shankar, Consultant Nephrologist, conveyed the vote of thanks.

With a shared commitment to public welfare, Sri Ramakrishna Hospital and TRANSTAN aim to highlight the crucial role of organ donation in saving lives and enhancing well-being. The event included a street play on organ donation by Ramakrishna Institution NSS volunteers, and over 1000+ NSS volunteers registered for organ donation, encouraging a healthier and more compassionate world.

Organ donation epitomizes human kindness and generosity. The campaign emphasizes the importance of understanding the impact of becoming an organ donor and initiating conversations with families about this benevolent choice. With the potential to save up to 8 lives per donor, the campaign underscores the collective effort needed to create a healthier world through organ donation.
