Coimbatore Police Commissioner V. Balakrishnan inaugurated the ‘Kaval Vanam’ Afforestation project (Miyawaki Method) at Coimbatore P. R. S campus on August 22, 2023. Jointly organized by Coimbatore Police and Siruthuli, a private organization, the event saw the planting of 750 saplings using the Miyawaki method.

During the event, Police Commissioner Balakrishnan stated, “750 saplings of various species have been planted here and Siruthuli is contributing to the maintenance of these trees. With 1500 trees already present on this campus, these new additions will further enhance the surrounding environment. As per the Chief Minister’s directive, Thudiyalur and Vadavalli police stations will be integrated with the city police from tomorrow.”

“This integration will enable police stations to effectively address law and order issues and streamline traffic management by deploying additional personnel. Notably, approximately 500 vehicles have been penalized for overspeeding and reckless driving in urban areas. We are committed to expanding the reach of speed detection sensors to other locations as well”, he added.

The event had notable attendees including Vanita Mohan, Managing Trustee and Sujini Balu, coordinator of Siruthuli, A. Sekar, Coimbatore Armed Police Assistant Commissioner, and Jayachandran, Coimbatore Forest Officer with other police officers.
