HICAS Observes International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Hindusthan College of Arts & Science in Coimbatore observed the “International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” on 28th June 2023. The event was organized by the Student Support Cell and Anti-Drug Committee. The Guest of Honour was Tr. Shanmuga Sundaram, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Coimbatore Range.

Ponnusamy, the Principal, welcomed the Chief Guest and emphasized the importance of the day. He encouraged students to make the right choices in life and take advantage of the college’s resources and infrastructure for their development.

Tr. Shanmuga Sundaram shared his college experiences and highlighted the positive impact of the messages conveyed during such events. He stressed the importance of choosing the right path in life, honouring parents’ wishes, and selecting the right friends.

The event included an oath-taking ceremony by the students. Students from the Viscom and Animation Department screened a short film on substance abuse and its impact, while another group performed a Mime highlighting the pros and cons of substance abuse.

Priya, Chief Executive Trustee & Secretary of Hindusthan Educational and Charitable Trust, delivered a felicitation address. Jone Antony Raja proposed the vote of thanks.

The event aimed to raise awareness about drug abuse and create a supportive environment for students. It successfully conveyed the message and empowered students to make informed choices for a successful future. Loganathan, Professor & Head, Department of Commerce CA & Coordinator of Anti-Drug Committee, Rangarajan, Head, Department of Computer Science, Agnes Febiola, the Coordinator of the Student Support Cell and other faculty members and students were present in the programme.
