TNAU conducts Field Engineering Training on Watershed Management

Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Coimbatore and Central Academy for State Forest Service, Coimbatore jointly organizes Field Engineering Training on Watershed Management for 2022 – 24 State Forest Service Officer Trainees (28th Batch) of CASFOS, Coimbatore for a period of ten days (17.07.2023 to 26.07.2023).

Thirunavukarasu, IFS, Principal of CASFOS, Coimbatore delivered the inaugural address and shared the importance of watershed management in forestry and state and central government schemes for watershed development. Raviraj, Dean, AEC&RI, Coimbatore felicitated the state officers and shared a picture of TNAU’s activities over the years and milestones in watershed management to the trainees and briefed about the schedule of lectures, hands-on sessions and field visits. Raviraj also thanked Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor of TNAU and Thirunavukarasu, Principal of CASFOS for providing this opportunity to host this watershed management training. The participants are State Forest Officers from various parts of India and multidisciplinary group (includes Civil Engineering, Forestry, Agriculture, Botany, Electronics etc). After the inaugural session, Hydrology of Watersheds and Landuse Classification was presented by Ravikumar and Balaji Kannan, Professors, Soil and Water Conservation Engineering.
