KASC observes Partition Horrors Remembrance Day

Kongunadu Arts and Science College observed Partition Horrors Remembrance Day by organizing a silent march. As many as 800 students and 100 professors paid homage to the lost souls in the communal riots during the partition of the country.

C.A.Vasuki, Secretary & Director, KASC presided over the rally, wherein guest DSP Namasivayam took part as the Chief Guest and flagged off the rally in the presence of O.N.Paramasivan, Treasurer, Lekeshmanaswamy, Principal, Dr.Madan Shankar, Dean-Academics, KASC and other professors.

The rally commenced from the college premises towards Vellakinar. The rally was observed as a tribute to the millions of lives displaced and impacted when British India was divided into two Independent nations; India and Pakistan in 1947.

Commenting on the rally, DSP Namasivayam said “The loss of all the lives and the displacement of millions of people during the partition and the sacrifice of the freedom fighters, patriots and stalwarts of this country to make this nation Independent should be respected and the spirit of independence should be cherished by all Indian citizens.”
