I will be in Politics till the end of my life – Kamal Haasan

Makkal Needhi Maiam Founder Kamal Haasan addressed the public via video for the first time after his defeat in the TN Assembly Elections, that he will not quit politics, and MNM will continue in its path.

In a 4-minute video, the MNM President took subtle shots at those who criticized the party for its lacks of democracy and transparency.  He claimed that the party had given the opportunity for newcomers, neophytes and less known faces the opportunity to serve at a higher capacity based on their talent, and that appeared democracy’s peak to them, then.

He said it is one’s democratic duty to accept his rightful responsibility after the defeat. But when he had asked for that, he said that he had appeared to be a dictator to those who accused him!

Kamal said that the party will not allow such people to spoil it anymore. He shared that the public will see a new, transformed Maiam soon. He invited the party men to continue doing their duty “We need not answer all those fake accusations, time will answer” But if they (Party men) feel that they cannot withstand the words of injustice, then they should speak truth, engage in argument but watch on their tone, language and their argument’s quality, and never let it go down.

He said that Maiam is very clear in its ideals and honest in its way forward. He assured the public that till he lives, he will be in politics.

On May 6th this year, Makkal Needhi Maiam’s then Vice President and Senior Member Dr.Mahendran resigned from the party, citing issues with the party’s internal democracy and the way the party was functioning.

Since his departure, several known faces and key officials of the party including General Secretaries Muruganantham, C.K.Kumaravel have quit the party stating almost the same reasons.
