Kumaraguru empowers individuals to solve problems

Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS), the Department of Psychology organised a conclave focused on ‘Mental Wellbeing in the Tech and AI Era’ on Wednesday.

The conclave talked about the pressing challenges associated with maintaining mental health in our contemporary digital age. The conclave endeavoured to empower individuals across various sectors to manage both personal and professional aspects of their lives.

It delved into the psychological ramifications of perpetual connectivity, scrutiny of the influence of AI on human behaviour, and examined the repercussions of technological advancements on the mental health of professionals and youth alike.

Attendees gained invaluable insights and tools to navigate the ever-evolving technological landscape with greater efficacy. It served as a platform fostering understanding and resilience in the face of modern-day digital complexities.

Chief guest Prof Dr. Ganesan Vedagiri, founder director of Global Institute of Behaviour Technology and former professor and head of department of psychology, Bharathiyar university, and the speakers were Dr. Harold Patrick industrial psychologist and dean of Jain university, Dr. Selvaraj psychiatrist director of vazhikatti, Dr. Shailaja Shastri director-research YourDOST, Dr. Ashwini – founder and director of Muktha foundation.

Prof Dr Ganesan Vedagiri, said, “We need not feel anxious about our future, as the next moment is beyond our direct control, and humans possess the innate ability to adapt to changes, and he spoke about solving problems by having convergent, and divergent thinking.”

Dr. Harold Patrick, said “adapting is the key to tackle problems, the impact of open communication in workplace helps to reduce the stigma and fosters a supportive, environment among employees and provides earlier intervention to employee mental wellbeing.”

Following the technical session, a panel discussion on wisdom of technology in mental health services. The panel comprised esteemed experts including Dr Shailaja Shastri, Dr. Harold Patrick, Dr. Selvaraj and Director, Dr. Ashwini served as the Moderator.
