NGP Arts Organized International Conference

Dr. NGP Arts and Science College, the Department of Biochemistry, Food Science and Nutrition, Clinical Lab Technology, Chemistry, and Medical Physics organized a significant “International Conference on Translational Research Towards Attaining Good Health and Wellbeing For Sustainable Development” on Saturday, under DBT-Star Status.

The conference aimed at establishing the research outcomes into practical solutions addressing societal needs, focusing on biotech entrepreneurship, technology transfer, commercialization strategies, and industry-academia collaborations.

In the Inaugural session, the presidential address was delivered by Dr. Nalla.G. Palaniswami, Chairman, Dr. N. G. P. Research Educational Trust, who highlighted the advancement of good health and well-being for sustainable development.

The chief guest and the keynote speakers were felicitated by Dr. Muthuswamy, Director Academics of Dr. N. G. P. Research Educational Trust, and Prof. Dr. Ramamurthi, Principal, Dr. N. G. P. Arts and Science College.

The globally invited keynote speaker, Prof. Sakthivel Sadayappan, Professor of Internal Medicine from the University Of Cincinnati College Of Medicine, released the e-proceedings of the conference and delivered the inaugural address which, emphasized the complex interplay between genetics and lifestyle factors like diet in the prevalence of heart disease among South Asians.

Prof. Timothy Mc Kinsey, Professor of Medicine from the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine, USA offered a captivating glimpse into the intricate molecular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular health and pathology and their functional consequences.

Prof. Dr. Jonathan A. Kirk from Loyola University Chicago, USA, elucidated the pivotal role of Sarcomere in the development and progression of heart failure.

Dr. Shiva, Principal Scientist from ICAR – NRC for Banana, Trichy on Horticultural Crops for Health and Wealth with reference to Banana, explained the symbiotic relationship between agriculture, nutrition, and economic prosperity.

Finally, Dr. Sundaresan, Senior Scientist from Aravind Medical Research Foundation, Madurai, elaborated the genomic insights illuminate the path towards personalized diagnosis, management, and treatment of ocular disorders, and also he delivered the valedictory address
