The Division of Cardiac pacing and Electrophysiology, at KMCH hospitals, recently organized the 3rd edition of KOVAI HEART RHYTHM SUMMIT ‘EP UPDATE 2018′. The conference was inaugurated by Dr.Nalla G.Palaniswami, chairman, KMCH and Dr. S.Natarajan,HOD, Dept.of Cardiology, GKNM Hospital in presence of Dr.Lawrence Jesuraj, Consultant Electrophysiologist, Dr.Thavamani D.Palaniswami, Vice Chairman, KMCH and Dr.Thomas Alexander, Senior Interventional Cardiologist, KMCH.

This yearly academic event was held in Coimbatore with focus on cardiac arrhythmias with a target audience of cardiologists, anaesthetists, critical care physicians and general physicians with keen interest in the field of cardiac arrhythmias. Cardiac Electrophysiology is a separate branch in Cardiology, which deals with disorders of heart’s electrical system (arrhythmias). This disease can be present as slow heart rate or faster heart rate, which in any case could be of life threatening, if not given proper attention.

Keeping this very thought in focus, KMCH Heart Institute has started a separate segment “Division of Cardiac Pacing and Interventional Electrophysiology” for treating such diseases, a first of its kind in Tamil Nadu. More than 250 doctors participated in the conference.
