RCAS earns esteemed “Star College Scheme”

In Coimbatore, Rathinam College of Arts and Science organised the Induction programme for  acquiring the esteemed “Star College Scheme” by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India on last saturday.

In this scheme, Principle objectives are to identify and allocate funds for the Institutions which ameliorate the students. In continuation with this, the five Basic Science Departments of Rathinam College of Arts and Science are granted with Rs.1.65 crore under this scheme.

The beneficiaries of this scheme are both the UG students and faculty members of Biotechnology, Microbiology, Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics. The star scheme provides exclusive syllabus, hands on training, internships for students and revitalized Faculty Development Programmes. In addition to this awareness programs, competitions and extension activities in nearby communities have been planned to be conducted for the three consecutive years.

This august occasion was inaugurated by  Garima Gupta, Scientist – F, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology. S. Balasubramanian, Principal, Rathinam College of Arts and Science, welcomed the gathering. Madan. A. Sendhil, Chairman, Rathinam Group of Institutions rendered the Presidential address. R. Rajendran, Department of Microbiology, PSG College of Arts and Science, delivered the special address. S. N. Suresh, Vice Principal, Co-ordinator of the Star College Scheme, highlighted the significance of the Star College Scheme. K. P. V. Sabareesh, Dean of Research and Development; T. M. Hemalatha, Dean, School of Commerce.

Mr.K. Sargurunathan, Dean, Student Affairs, Heads, faculty members and students of beneficiary Departments and others graced the occasion with their presence. The vibrant event came to its final stage with the vote of thanks by Dr. R. Manickam, CEO & Secretary, Rathinam College of Arts and Science.
