PSGiTech Hackfest 2023 Kicks Off

The PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research (PSGiTech) kicked off the iTech Hackfest 2023, a national-level hackathon, on August 24, 2023. The event, which is organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, is in its second edition and is being held in partnership with industry leaders SAP and Kaar Technologies.

The inaugural ceremony was held at the PSGiTech campus in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The event was graced by the presence of N Saravanakumar, Principal of PSGiTech; Jayanth Bagare, Chief Development Architect at SAP Academy for Engineering; Maran Nagarajan, Founder and CEO of Kaar Technologies; R Manimegalai, Professor and Head of the CSE department; S. Lokesh, Priya Ponnuswamy, and Lt. V. Vilasini, faculty members of the CSE department.

In his welcome address, Saravanakumar said that the iTech Hackfest is a platform for young minds to showcase their innovative ideas and solutions to real-world problems. He also congratulated the organizers for putting together a successful event.

Bagare spoke about the importance of hackathons in promoting entrepreneurship and innovation. He said that hackathons provide a unique opportunity for students to learn, collaborate, and create.

Nagarajan, in his inaugural address, emphasized the significance of entrepreneurship and how hackathons can help aspiring entrepreneurs to launch their own businesses. He also shared his thoughts on the importance of delayed gratification and how it is essential for achieving success in life.

The iTech Hackfest 2023 is being held on the theme of “Empowering Tomorrow’s India.” The event is open to students from all over India who are pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in engineering, computer science, or related fields. The top three teams will win prizes worth Rs. 1,50,000, Rs. 1,00,000, and Rs. 50,000, respectively.

The hackathon will run for three days and will feature a variety of activities, including workshops, talks, and competitions. The final round of the hackathon will be held on August 26, 2023.
