TNAU inks MoU with AgriCPS

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore, renowned for its contributions to agriculture, horticulture, forestry, and allied subjects, has taken a significant step towards enhancing tapioca cultivation. Tapioca and Castor Research Station, under TNAU, located at Yethapur, Salem, is focusing on research and extension activities to benefit tapioca farmers in the region.

In collaboration with AgriCPS, a company specializing in Artificial Intelligence and automation technologies, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 19th July 2023. The MoU aims to develop Artificial Intelligence-based forewarning technologies to combat pests and diseases and integrate automation technologies like drones, drip irrigation, and fertigation for improving tapioca yield.

The three-year partnership with a budget outlay of Rs. 25.15 lakhs is set to revolutionize tapioca farming in Salem and Namakkal districts of Tamil Nadu. The event saw the presence of Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor of TNAU, TamilVendhan, Registrar of TNAU, Coimbatore, and Th. Sheriff Babu, Founder & CEO of AgriCPS, Chennai, who signed the MoU. Kalarani, Director Crop Management, Manickam, Professor and Head of TCRS, Yethapur, and progressive tapioca farmer Govindarajan also participated in the event.
