Siruthuli Inaugurated ‘Garuda Vanam’

‘Garuda Vanam’, a new afforestation site near Nandangarai Check Dam in Boluvampatti was inaugurated today. The site holds special significance that it is named after Lord Garuda, an eagle that frequently visited the site during the construction of the Nandangarai check dam in 2008 and stopped visiting after the completion. In memory of the bird, the new afforestation site was named ‘Garuda Vanam’ and will nurture 2000 native plants suitable for forest tracts.

The event saw the planting of 500 saplings with the help of 50 volunteers from Dr. N.G.P Arts and Science College. To sustain the greenery, a solar-powered motor was installed to draw water from the check dam. Jointly developed by Siruthuli and Kaschit Group, ‘Garuda Vanam’ aims to become a thriving sanctuary, fostering biodiversity and environmental preservation.
