TNAU organized Skill Development Programme under NAHEP

The Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore organized a Skill Development Program for third-year undergraduate students as part of the ICAR-National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP) – Institutional Development Plan (IDP). The program spanned five days, from June 19 to June 23, 2023.

The B.Tech. (Agricultural Engineering) students participated in a hands-on training session on Robotics for Smart Agriculture conducted by the i-ROBOCHAKRA Robotics Training Academy in Coimbatore. During the training, the students gained basic knowledge of electronics and robotics using separate kits containing robotic components.

Meanwhile, the B.Tech. (Food Technology) students received training on Food Safety Management System – Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) from Paradigm Services Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai. The training focused on food safety and quality management, hazard identification associated with specific types of food production and processing, and the implementation of HACCP plans in the food industry.

In addition, the B.Tech. (Energy and Environmental Engineering) students underwent training on Industrial Energy Audit conducted by senior professionals from the South Indian Textile Research Association (SITRA). The training primarily focused on energy management, industrial energy auditing, and included practical onsite training at SITRA premises and textile mills.

Geethalakshmi, the Vice-Chancellor of TNAU, visited the students during the training program, overseeing the training modules and the skills acquired by the students. She encouraged them to utilize the training effectively through continuous practice.

The skill development program was organized under the guidance of Raviraj, Dean (Agricultural Engineering) at the Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Coimbatore. The program aimed to equip students with practical skills and knowledge in various fields to enhance their employability and contribute to the agricultural and industrial sectors.
