TNAU and Coimbatore City Police Organize Awareness Rally against Drug Abuse

Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and the Coimbatore City Police joined forces to organize an awareness rally on the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event aimed to promote a drug-free society and strengthen cooperation in the fight against drug abuse.

Under the guidance of TNAU’s Vice-Chancellor, Geethalakshmi, the rally involved a Relay Marathon for Drug-free Covai, coordinated by Ravikumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police. Students from various colleges in Coimbatore participated in the rally.

The NSS volunteers from TNAU commenced the rally with an awareness march, raising slogans and highlighting the ill effects of drug abuse. The relay rally progressed to Government College of Technology (GCT), where participants continued to raise awareness slogans and handed over placards related to drug abuse.

The event concluded with an awareness program organized by the Coimbatore City Police, attended by the District Collector, Corporation Commissioner, Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, and other senior police officials. The officials addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of a drug-free society and the collective responsibility to combat drug abuse.

The joint initiative aimed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and foster cooperation among students and the community to create a society free from the grip of drugs.
