Use Technology to Make a Difference in the World

Few days ago India provided Rs.7500 crore aid to Sri Lanka, and most of them is for food related help.

This doesn’t mean that we have plenty food here, there are more than 25 crore Indians who don’t get 3 meals a day. Among that some get only 1 meal a day. For this to change, we need to provide solutions.

“We should think how we can utilise our knowledge and technology to make a difference in this world,” said C.Devarajan, MD, URC Construction, Erode.

He was the Chief Guest of the 5th Alumni Congress of PSG Tech Alumni Association.

PSG Tech has one of the largest Alumni Associations in India with more than 15 chapters across the globe.

The association hosts Alumni Congress which takes place once in 2 years; where accomplished alumni of the College (PSG Tech and PSG Polytechnic College)  belonging to various disciplines meet and discuss about their fields, the disruptions and paradigm shifts in industry and also open doors for networking with the present students.

D.Nandakumar, President of the association shared about the enormous financial support PSG Tech Alumni Association provides to financially underprivileged students, every year.

KPM Muthukumaran, Chairman of the Alumni Congress shared that this event which started in 2012 serves as a very good knowledge sharing platform, wherein 70 speakers will address students this year on a range of topics. K.Prakasan, Principal, PSG Tech delivered the Presidential Address.

The Chief Guest said students and alumni of PSG Tech, an institution which is soon going to celebrate its 75th year should think about the status they want their nation to be when they celebrate their Jubilee.

He said post this pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine War, there could be a food crisis in the coming days., according to a report. He wished that people with knowledge and technology as resources should brainstorm and come out with solutions to address issues like this.

Talking about business, he shared that a Confident and Ethical approach in any field will reward people in time.

He underlined that such a value-based system has been the main factor in URC’s growth today as one among the top 10 construction companies in India.

He wished the young aspirants to never hesitate or doubt their own potential.

“Don’t believe that doing things ethically can hold you back,” he opined.

He said all was not Cake walk in his 35+ years in business life, and many challenges came to URC over the years. He credited the company’s value system laid by founders for guiding them in the right way during turbulent times.

“In 2031, our company would be celebrating 75 years. By that time we would like to become a $ 2 billion company”. He said that to realise this dream URC is already working on all work orders be it small or big with zeal and will.

He urged the young aspiring entrepreneurs to “Go and perform”, even if that opportunity is small, think how to improve it and dare to be different.

“When you prove you are unique, there will be recognition, people are there to appreciate such works,” he emphasized.

He said PSG and all Stakeholders of Covai have a very large opportunity and responsibility in the days and years to come because Tamil Nadu is looking for a larger development.

Chennai is already overburdened. So when Covai improves its business ecosystem, investment attractive capabilities, business partnerships; it can establish a large facility that can become the business nodal center for the entire Kongu Region.

He wished Coimbatore to have large business districts in future so that, it can provide technology solutions to all businesses.

B Giriraj, Principal, PSG Polytechnic College introduced the Young Alumni Awardees of this year. Following the award presentation, AV Varadharajan, Past President of PSG Tech Alumni Association shared about the status of PSG GRD Museum and how Alumni have contributed support to it and how they can continue. Prof.Arasu rendered his note of gratitude.
