Stalin certainly has the ability to become PM – Karti Chidambaram

Sivaganga MP Karti P.Chidambaram expressed that Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.K. Stalin certainly has the ability to become the Prime Minister of India, and for instance, one can take the case of H.D.Deve Gowda, former Chief Minister of Karnataka and the present PM Narendra Modi, who was the former CM of Gujarat.

The South Indian politician from Indian National Congress (INC) said this in a recent interview to Thanthi TV.

The Story behind:

When the interviewer Ashokha Varshini, asked him about certain leaders like Mamata talking about a coalition without BJP and INC, he stated that it is too early to talk about such a formation taking place, as the 2024 General Election has 30 months to go, but if any political coalition wants to dethrone BJP, it cannot achieve that feat if it wishes to sideline Indian National Congress.

He said BJP has around 35% vote-bank, and any alliance that wants to win over the ruling government must have at least 40% on their side, and to do that INC’s 19% vote bank is a must for them, hence INC cannot be ignored by parties aiming to win 2024 general election.

Related to that, Ashokha said that some parties wouldn’t want Congress to head the coalition, to which Karti said INC has to be given the centrality. Should scenario take such a turn, discussions would be later held to decide who would be their unanimous PM Candidate.

When asked whether M.K.Stalin has the qualification to become PM, Karti said that he definitely has it. If DMK has the ambition to set foot in National Politics, he would very much welcome it.
